As reported in Daily Post, the UK based ChinaLink has secured its first signifcant investment into Liverpool from a Chinese company, listed in the Chinese stock exchange.

Susino (UK) Ltd, an umbrella and outdoor equipment maker from the southern Chinese province of Fujian, has opened its UK outdoor product centre in Speke Hall Estate Industrial Park

Ms. Xiaoya Zhang, the newly appointed General Manager of the company, was delighted that the company has already received numerous orders and enquiries even before the first shipment sailed into the port of Liverpool.

When asked the reasons of their decision in choosing Liverpool, she said that she had visited a number of UK cities and had lengthy discussions with various advisers. It was the Liverpool-based ChinaLink who helped them to make the decision as their UK market adviser over the last 8 months.

Ms. Zhang first met Dr. Kegang Wu of ChinaLink on 16 February and was impressed by his indepth knowledge of the UK market, the hand-held approach & the ChinaLink services. Within two weeks, Dr. Wu was on a plane to Guangzhou to meet the owner of Susino Umbrella Co, Ltd, Mr. Anbang Wang who was known for his legendary tale of establishing Susino from scratch. ChinaLink was appointed as the UK business adviser to incorporate and set up the operations.

Dr. Wu, who is Director of ChinaLink said "ChinaLink is known for setting up UK - China trade deals and joint ventures in China for British companies.

"We have invested heavily in the last few years in gearing new services toward the Chinese investors coming to the UK market and have developed a range of support services, together with our professional and public sector service partners."

Mark Barsnet, Director of Operations of The Mersey Partnership, which has been working with ChinaLink in marketing Merseyside to potential Chinese investors since 2003, said: "Susino's investment in Liverpool represents a pivotal moment in our relationship with China and we warmly welcome them here. The investment tide is starting to flow out of China and Liverpool is well positioned to offer an attractive investment environment for Chinese Companies. Chinalink is a key element of that environment and we congratulate Dr.Wu and his colleagues on their excellent work in supporting Susino in their investment"

Mike Taylor and Tony O'Neil, CEO and senior investment manager of BusinessLiverpool respectively, were involved with ChinaLink in helping to select suitable premises in Liverpool.

Dr. Wu, who has been invited to address two Chinese national business forums in Guangzhou and Wuxi on best practices of working with Chinese companies in the UK market.
